Gerard Way as The Patient, from his Black Parade days.
Its a look I really love.
It got me with Kenneth Branagh as Hamlet, too. And Roy in Bladerunner...

story:
This was drawn on the way home from a five hour car trip tonight, most of it in the dark with a pen-flashlight clipped to my ear unfortunately. (don't try to picture that). On the way to the destination, sunday, I played Black Parade a majority of the way up, and so on the way back I felt pretty inspired. I drew Gerard, and then the rest seemed to pour from my hand after. That sort of thing usually doesn't happen with me, so it was a bit thrilling haha. Honestly, I would have done more if I hadn't run out of space vertically.

I ended up using a lot of familiar imagery for this one, like skulls and flames and roses and wings...the kind of things I was familiar with seeing on My Chem shirts and CDs. So, the ideas around him were generated by the album as a whole. Although I can say that the left side, with its flames and nasty skull faces, is mostly 'Mama' and the right side, a big conglomeration of 'The End', 'Welcome to the Black Parade', 'This is How I Disappear', and 'Sleep' is always another big inspiration. So, I'd say that even though the whole album was definitaly the inspiration, it was those songs in particular that kept playing themselves in my head.

You could say I always draw him with his head down, haha. But its not because I picture him that way, necessarily. Its just that, I feel like 'pensive' or 'thoughtful' always comes to mind when I think of him. One of the greatest reasons why I admire Gerard is that he's always got an idea, he's always thinking of something new. So drawing him as though he may be creating one of his ideas, well just seems right to me.

This time it wasn't done with reference of any sort, so its a little less accurate than last one (I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that/ sorry about all the innaccuracies and awkwardness). That being said, I may take this picture more seriously in the future and do it over in pen and (quite possibly..) watercolour, making sure to get everything just right. :')
Edit: changed the mouth for my peace of mind..hope no ones bothered by the change. Looks better to me. :')

Edit: A few weeks ago, my besfran said she saw someone had posted this on tumblr under the name 'gerard has cancer'? or something like that? Does anyone know about that? owo I think that's such a deep look at this picture..I love it! (wish I had thought of it! XD ) The idea of this picture representing the evils of cancer is beautiful to me. The only difference is that I would connect it to the Patient opposed to Mr. Gerard. If anyone can send me in the direction of that blogger, link me up! ;)

Wow this is amazing! I like the skulls and birds... The skulls took a moment of examining the picture to find, but its a wonderful accent. And the roses...the roses are brilliant! Along with the birds. :3
Oh yeah, and Gerard... Haha love it. :3
